Ponty claimed their first win during the Pre Season with a 24-15 win away at Cwmtwrch in the Swansea Valley Cup. This was Pontys first full competitive fixture after using their previous friendlies as an opportunity to use the all available players, still losing to both Amman United and Laugharne in what were two tight encounters.

This was never going to be an easy game against a Cwmtwrch side who were low on numbers on this occasion, yet played with a huge amount of passion. However, Ponty looked to capitalise on this through the course of the game, spreading the ball wide with every possible opportunity. This proved to be a successful tactic with the four tries scored coming from those in the back three. Full Back Mathew Edwards scoring twice, and wingers Callum Jones and Sam Beynon crossing the whitewash for one. Mathew Edwards kicked two from four taking his tally to 14 for the game.
