Pontardawe climb to fourth

Following on from two impressive home wins and a rousing pep talk from coach Dai Hawkins the ‘cherry and whites’ traveled to top of the league South Gower in search of an away win.

The Weather was perfect, as was the pitch which was a tribute to the club whose president is Paul Thomburn a former player back in the early eighties.

There were no scores in the first quarter which was tightly fought with ponty getting the better of South Gower in the Scrums.

The second quarter was brilliant for ponty starting with a successful kick in 21st minute by scum half Leon Withey.

Two minutes later ponty were awarded another penalty in almost exact same position   and surprised South Gower by choosing to take it quickly and run in a try from some 25 yards out, scored by centre and captain Jamie Jarrett.

Five minutes after the restart  saw pontardawe second try scored by winger kyle johnson. Then with just three minutes before half time pontardawe full back Nathan Thomas crossed over the line to score pontardawe third try of the game.

The second half was dominated by South Gower who were brought into the game by some poor attacking-kicking by ponty.  The final minutes of the game seen pontardawe regain their attacking mojo and went after the bonus point fourth try but unfortunately to no avail.

Final score South Gower 0 - 18 to Pontardawe.
