Pontardawe RFC is a thriving club at the heart of the community with a growing business and ambitious expansion plans for the future.
We, therefore, have a vacancy for an enthusiastic Club Facilities Manager to oversee the management of the day-to-day operations of the Club House and facilitiesand work with the Committee and Directors of the club to drive the business forward and capitalise on its growing potential
This full-time position requires a person with excellent organisational skills, who is open-minded and flexible and will work closely with the Committee and Directors of PRFC.
The successful applicant will be always expected to be an ambassador for the club and be a visible presence during opening hours representing the club in a professional and friendly manner.
Job Title; Club Facilities Manager
Reporting to: Treasurer, (or appointed committee member)
Job Purpose: To oversee and take responsibility for all aspects of Club business together with developing the business, using planning, monitoring and controlling procedures.
Hours of Work: 40 Hours per week (Flexible based on events)
Salary; £31,200 (Pro-rata)
Probationary Period: 3 Months (Extendable if stated in advance)
Holidays: Statuary Holiday entitlement
Conditions: The ideal candidate will be expected to…
An NVQ (or equivalent) in Bar Management (preferable)
Have a valid driving licence, their own transport and appropriate insurance
Hold their own personal bar licence. (preferable)
Undertake an enhanced DBS (CRB) check and to pass a First Aid at Work Training Course
Undertake a catering hygiene training course as required
1.General duties of Manager.
(a) The Facilities Manager shall be responsible for the day-to-day Management of Pontardawe R.F.C. clubhouse, seven days a week throughout the year.
(b) He/she will be accountable to the Club Committee on all matters.
(c ) The Manager shall be responsible for all monies relating to the trading of the Club, and such monies will be banked by agreement with the Committee.
(d)The Manager shall be responsible for maintaining adequate stock levels on all goods traded, and for the accurate ordering of stock, ensuring they are kept in a good order.
(e) The Manager shall be responsible for ensuring that the electric, heating, refrigerant and water systems are correctly and efficiently managed and kept in good order.
(f) The opening hours of the club shall be within the framework of the Licensing laws, and the Manager shall be responsible for ensuring the Club is opened at the appropriate times, and the Club is correctly secured, protected and locked when the premises are vacant.
(g) The Manager shall be responsible for good housekeeping, cleaning glasses, emptying ashtrays, brushing up, wiping tables and removal of empty glasses, cans etc. on the premises. Duties will also include the cleaning up of bottles, cans, crisp packets etc. from the outside areas, or the garden and the car park, and any other comparable duties after opening.
(h) The manager shall be responsible for ensuring the bar towels and such items are adequately provided and laundered. Initial supply and subsequent replacement due to fair wear and tear.
(i) The Manager shall be responsible for all cellar work, storage, stock, pipe cleaning and supervising delivery of all goods when required.
(j) The manager will be responsible for cleaning the bar and lounge servery, shelves and cellar areas, outdoor areas and also be responsible for cleaning the Club on the cleaner’s day off.
2. Stocktaking and Accountability.
(a) The stocktake will be undertaken on a regular basis by an independently appointed competent person, authorised by the Committee.
(b) At the end of each day’s trading, the till turnover must be totalled onto the till slip, a record of daily takings and submitted to the treasurer with all slips at the end of each week.
(c) The Manager shall be responsible and accountable for all the till float.
3. Catering.
(a) The manager will take responsibility for the running of the Café and staff. Ensuring Café is open at relevant times and appropriate staff are in place.
(b) The provision of food for visiting Rugby clubs and club events will be required as and when needed. This will be confirmed by Committee when required.
(d) The Committee must be consulted on all commercial ventures outside the stated catering terms, before being committed to by the Manager.
4. Promotion and Social Media.
(a) In consultation with Committee agree and implement a marketing strategy to promote Pontardawe RFC as a venue.
(b) Via Social-Media, on-premises advertising and local press, as relevant, market the clubhouse facilities, café and all relevant future events.
(c) Liaise with Committee regarding any proposed functions and events that need Local Authority consent/approval or that may need to meet Local Authority requirements for example, noise management plans, risk assessments etc.
5. Brand Promotion and Public Relations:
(a) Publicise case studies via Social-Media, on premises or local press, as relevant, to build the Pontardawe RFC brand and relationships with the public and Authorities.
(b) Work with suppliers, performers etc to plan future events with the view to driving cost savings (in consultation and with agreement from Committee).
6. Bar help.
(a) The Manager shall be responsible for appointing suitable bar help. Approval of the committee must be attained before commencement by any bar help. The working hours of bar help shall be agreed with the Committee in advance. The bar help shall be responsible to the Manager on all matters of trade. Payment of the bar help shall be the responsibility of the Committee on receipt of a signed completed time sheet.
